Sustainable forestry

In order to preserve the tropical forests in Brazil and Gabon for the long term Precious Woods follows the guidelines from the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) for sustainable and responsible forestry. This means that only as much timber is harvested as it regrows. It ensures that there is no threat to biodiversity and that the forest maintains its value. Within one production cycle of 25-30 years no more than 5 percent of the Forest are harvested.

In 1997 Precious Woods Amazon was the first company in the Amazon to be certified according to FSC
® standards. The FSC® certification of Precious Woods Gabon was finalized end of 2009 and was also the first company in this country.
