Izombé is available in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Congo Basin of Gabon. The tree attains heights up to 30-36 m and diameters normally between 70 and 90cm (sometimes 120 cm). The trunks are straight and cylindrical and have high buttress root boards.

 

Appearance

Freshly sawn Izombé has an ocher yellow to pinkish yellow brown color. Sometimes the heartwood has curved veins on the wood surface. The 30-50 mm thick sapwood has pinkish yellow to yellow colour and is difficult to distinguish. The wood structure is straight to irregular and sometimes interlocked. The texture is fine.

 

Processing properties

The machining of Izombé can be done easily.  Pre-drilling is recommended. The gluing and finishing properties are good. It dries moderately quickly till quickly. Plain sawn timber has a rather high risk of cracking.

 

Application

Izombé can be used for cladding, garden timber, door and window frames, doors, windows, furniture, parquet and flooring.
